Our school day

The school day starts at 8.45am for all children. Children will be able to enter school from 8:40am. Registration takes place in the first 5 minutes of the day. We have a daily act of collective worship.

The school day finishes at 3:15pm for all classes.

In a typical week the children are in school for 32.5 hours.

Morning Playtimes

Children in Years 1 to 6 have a 15 minute morning play, which takes place at different times for each year group between 10:15am and 11:00am.

Lunch

Children in the infants have their lunch from 11.35 am until 12.30 pm.
Years 3 to 6 begin their lunch at 12.35 pm and lunchtime ends for them at 1.30 pm.

Afternoon Play

Children in Years 1 and 2 have a flexible afternoon play (taken as and when required) which lasts for 10 minutes.

Drop off and collection

The school doors are opened at 8.40 am for all classes and the children are welcomed into school from this point until the doors close at the start of the day. Members of the staff are available to take messages on each of the doors. The teaching staff are not available at these times as they are in class meeting and greeting the children.

If normal pick-up arrangements have to be changed (e.g. you are delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset.

Getting to school

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option. There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car; it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users and it respects our nearby residents and parking restrictions. To encourage walking and reduce congestion around the school we have a park and stride arrangement with the Cricket Club and Birchfield Road Social Club. Alternatively, we have bike and scooter racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park considerately.
