REGISTER OF BUSINESS INTERESTS OF SCHOOL GOVERNORS AND HEADTEACHER

Under the “Financing of Maintained Schools (England) Regulations 2003” the school is required to maintain a Register of the Business Interests of individual School Governors and the School’s Headteacher. The Statutory Guidance setting out the arrangements for the constitution of school governing bodies (re-published 27.3.15) also states that, from September 2015, Governing Bodies will be under a duty to publish on their school website their register of interests. This register should set out any relevant business interests of Governors and any other educational establishments they govern. It should also set out any relationships between Governors and members of the school staff including spouses, partners and relatives.

Every Governor and Headteacher is required to make a signed entry in the Register. Entries for Governors and Headteacher with no Business Interests shall be recorded as “None” and duly signed.

Note: The requirement to register does not extend to school staff beyond the Headteacher. Staff governors will be required to register by virtue of their election as ‘governor’.
